::beautiful disintegration::
A couple mornings ago while waking up I listened to this very interesting and alarming piece about Global Climate Change on NPR
Before this past summer, Greenland wasn't a place I can say I thought about that much at all. The following photos were all taken with my iPhone in June and July flying over Greenland to and from my short stint living in Iceland. While Scientists say it's very hard to precisely calculate, it seems that Greenland is losing it's ice land mass at 5x the rate it was 10-15 years ago. An article in the Reykjavik Grapevine in July of 2012 stated that July of this year saw the largest melting of ice mass and ocean level rise in this arctic region in 30 years (my entire lifetime!).
On the morning of June 11th 2012 and the evening of July 20th 2012 this is what I saw..

I remember watching you snap these photos. My 16-year-old Icelandic cousin spent 2 weeks in Greenland after we left. I'll have to ask her if she learned about the melting at all. - Julie
